I am a Ph.D. candidate in Philosophy at UCLA. My primary research is in philosophy of mind, philosophy of self, and philosophy of psychology. I also have interests in Chinese philosophy, philosophy of cognitive science, and philosophy of science. I am curious about the intersection where metaphysical questions about the nature of the self meet psychological questions about the workings of the mind. My doctoral research, which stems from these interests, explores the use of the mental representation of self in perception and action. Driving this work is idea that our capacity to think about ourselves has its origins in low-level cognition. Before coming to UCLA, I received an A.B. in Philosophy from Princeton University and spent a year teaching English and Philosophy at Shihezi University in Xinjiang, China as a Princeton in Asia Fellow. |
